Did you know?

That the proposed wind turbine at Sparrow Lodge, Pincet Lane, North Kilworth would be one of the tallest installed in the UK. It would have a hub height of 80 m, a rotor diameter of 92.5 m and an overall height of 126 m. – that is almost one third higher than Big Ben!

Did you know?

That this is a totally commercial project, with all the power generated going to the National Grid. There would be no benefit to the local community and no jobs created. The developer lives in Northamptonshire.

Did you know?

That it will cost over £1m to build the turbine and will produce only £60,000 of energy per year. But the developers will get an estimated £225,000 per annum in government subsidy. The subsidy is funded by charging us all more for our electricity bills! Without the subsidy the turbine project would not be viable.

Did you know?

That the wind recordings published for the postcode show average levels between 6m/s and 7m/s at 45 metres. This is not the optimum speed for the turbine to work efficiently. Put simply, the turbine needs to be in an area where there is more wind!

Did you know?

The applicants claim that the site is in ‘an area of high hills’ and ‘a moderate sense of remoteness and wilderness’. Really? It is in lowland Leicestershire, bordered by the M1, the A14, Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground and the villages of North Kilworth and Husbands Bosworth. Hikers on the Bosworth towpath, (a Conservation Area,) will be completely consumed by the turbine’s domination of the skyline. This is the heart of the countryside with several villages within 3000 metres.
